A quick recipe for an easy lavender lemonade, a refreshing beverage of choice for a sizzling summer day.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Chill Time: 30-40 minutes
Equipment Needed: Juicer, stove pans, sieve, glass bottles or pitchers
Serving: Makes Two-Three Litres
Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups Caster sugar (1 lb / 450g)
5 cups Water (1182ml / 40 fl oz)
1/4 cup Lavender buds, fresh or dried (32g/ 1oz)
8 - 10 fresh Lemons juiced
To serve: soda or sparkling water & ice cubes.
Method:
1. To make the simple syrup place the sugar, water and lavender buds in a pan. Bring to a simmer, and stir so that the sugar dissolves completely. Simmer for approx. 5 minutes.
2. Remove from the heat and strain the syrup through a sieve into another pan. Discarding the lavender buds and keeping the sugar lavender syrup.
3. Juice the lemons and strain the fresh lemon juice through a clean sieve into the lavender simple syrup. Stir well and pour into glass bottles or pitchers.
4. Refrigerate for 30 - 40 minutes
Notes:
-If the lemonade is a little sweet to your taste, add more lemon juice. Serve as it is with ice cubes and a slice of lemon or Serve 1/2 fresh lemonade with ½ chilled soda or sparkling water for a fizzy finish.
